Here is a look at some of the most popular Christmas markets in various cities, each with its own special theme and attractions.

Bucharest Christmas Market

The Bucharest Christmas Market runs from November 29 to December 28 and takes place in Constituției Square. The market remains open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, making it a perfect destination for holiday celebrations. A towering 30-meter-high Christmas tree will be the centerpiece, along with Santa Claus’s House and a Ferris wheel. Over 120 stalls will offer traditional crafts, local produce, and seasonal treats. Visitors can enjoy performances by folk ensembles, choirs, and artists, as well as modern music from DJs.

Bucharest Downtown Christmas Market

Located in University Square, this market features a culinary pop-up, a Christmas tree, a carousel, and various light installations. Fifteen food trucks will serve dishes from around the world, while guest DJs provide a lively atmosphere.

Bucharest Opera Christmas Market

Held at the Esplanade of the Bucharest National Opera from December 6 to December 28, this market combines classical music with festive cheer. Weekends will feature recitals and performances from the opera repertoire, alongside a decorated Christmas tree and stalls offering seasonal delights and children’s workshops.

Craiova Christmas Market

Running from November 14 to January 4, the Craiova Christmas Market 2025 is themed around The Nutcracker. The event spans multiple locations, including Mihai Viteazul Square, Doljana area, and others. Highlights include Santa’s flying sleigh, a six-meter-high house, and a classical ballet stage. Traditional dishes, handmade jewelry, and themed toys will be available throughout the market.

Sibiu Christmas Market

From November 14 to January 4, the Sibiu Christmas Market emphasizes authenticity and tradition. Video projections, an ice skating rink, and the Enchanted Elevator will entertain visitors. A picnic area with ecological grills and creative workshops for children are new additions this year. The market also extends to the Brukenthal Palace courtyard for the “Christmas at the Palace” event.

Cluj Christmas Market

Held in Unirii Square from November 21 to January 1, the Cluj Christmas Market features Santa’s House, a Ferris wheel, and dozens of stalls offering warm treats and holiday presents. Two additional fairs, The Other Christmas Fair and the Christmas Opera Fair, add to the festive atmosphere.

Oradea Christmas Market

From November 28 to December 26, Oradea’s Christmas Market offers carols, traditional treats, and meetings with Santa Claus. Thirty-one stalls showcase handicrafts, decorations, and jewelry, while 13 food trucks serve hot meals. Children can enjoy a large ice rink in Ferdinand Square.

Brașov Christmas Market

Running from November 30 to January 11, the Brașov Christmas Market focuses on community and tradition. Stalls in Council Square, Saint John Square, and the Rectorate area offer food, gifts, and decorations. A 25-meter-tall natural tree and numerous concerts add to the festive spirit.

Iași Christmas Market

From November 30 to January 5, the Iași Christmas Market spans several locations, including Bd. Ștefan cel Mare and Piața Unirii. Wooden stalls decorated with light installations offer a variety of goods, while an amusement park and cultural centers provide entertainment for all ages.

Timișoara Christmas Market

Taking place from November 30 to January 7, the Timișoara Christmas Market features dozens of stalls selling traditional foods, drinks, and gifts. A Ferris wheel, an ice rink, and a little train offer fun activities for visitors. Sfântu Gheorghe Square becomes a photo-worthy spot, and carol singing adds to the holiday atmosphere.
