Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, who won Miss Grand International 2021, will cease to be Taiwan’s Tourism Ambassador in Vietnam beginning this May due to a scandal involving accusations of misleading advertisements.

Derek Chou, who represents the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Vietnam, has stated that her contract is due to end in May and will not be extended.

Chou stated, “The bureau has been completely updated about her role in the misleading promotion of Kera Supergreens Gummies, a dietary fiber product.”

Since March, we haven’t conducted any promotional events with Thu Thi as our spokesperson. Although she performed her duties admirably over the last year, this latest issue has tarnished the reputation and hard work she had established.

Each year, we look for a fresh face to represent Taiwanese tourism in Vietnam, which means we do not intend to extend Thuy Tien’s agreement,” he stated additionally.

In October 2024, Tien was named as the tourism ambassador. Throughout her term, she uploaded multiple travel vlog entries highlighting Taiwan onto her official YouTube page.

Following an ongoing dispute regarding purported misleading advertisements, this choice was made. In December 2024, Tien revealed a partnership with social media personalities Pham Quang Linh and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang to endorse Kera Supergreens Gummies. She declared on her Facebook profile—boasting more than 2.6 million subscribers—that each gummy encapsulates “the nutritional value of an entire meal’s worth of veggies,” positioning them as nutritious treats suitable for all ages.

Nonetheless, a customer subsequently pointed out inconsistencies between the claimed benefits and the actual composition of the product following independent tests conducted at Quality Assurance and Testing Center 2. The findings revealed that a full box of 30 gummies had just 0.51 grams of fiber, significantly less than advertised, which sparked widespread criticism among consumers. As a result, Tien took down the promotional material from her profile.

Last week, law enforcement initiated an inquiry and apprehended Linh and Hang on suspicion of “producing and selling fake food or food additives” as well as “misleading consumers.”

Tien has had his departure from Vietnam restricted from March 15 to May 15 due to an ongoing investigation.

At just 26 years old, Tien created history by becoming the inaugural Vietnamese competitor to claim the crown of Miss Grand International.
