— The Yobe State Police Command has achieved a major advancement in their fight against criminal activities by apprehending two prominent kidnapping suspects: Babaro Baushe and Umaru Dau’a.
The two individuals, who are 40 and 25 years old respectively, were arrested by the Dapchi Divisional Police Headquarters around 5:00 AM on April 9, 2025. Both belong to a criminal group involved in abduction for financial gain through coercion, active in the areas of Dapchi and Tarmuwa Local Governments.
As stated by the authorities, the suspects have connections to multiple criminal activities, such as:
Attack on Badegana Village
On November 21, 2024, the group carried out an assault on someone’s residence, leading to a death. The incident involved kidnapping and ransom demands.
On March 10, 2025, the suspects threatened Kudi Ibrahim from Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa LGA, demanding he hand over N250,000; they had suggested abduction or murder as consequences for non-compliance.
The individuals involved have admitted to committing the offenses, with investigations still underway at the State Investigation Department (SID). The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has instructed additional actions aimed at apprehending remaining group members and appealed to the public for reliable tips to assist the inquiry process.
