Broc Feeney Secures Supercars Points Lead with Victory at Sandown Park

Broc Feeney has once again taken the lead in the Supercars points standings after securing a commanding victory at Sandown Park near Melbourne. This win ensures his place in the final round of the season, set to take place in Adelaide in two weeks.

Feeney, driving for Triple Eight, started from pole position for the 16th time this season, matching the record previously held by Scott McLaughlin in 2017. The race was a thrilling back-and-forth between Feeney and fellow Chevrolet Camaro driver Anton De Pasquale. Feeney eventually crossed the line 4.37 seconds ahead, despite the track conditions changing multiple times during the race—from dry tires to wets and finally slicks for the latter half.

“I’m really happy to get another win here today,” Feeney said after claiming his 25th Supercars victory. “We are in the Grand Final, which is where we want to be. It’s important to show we can win races at this time of the year. It was tough being the leader when the rain came, but I wasn’t disappointed to see those cars go through.”

De Pasquale, who is out of the finals contention, still managed to secure a podium finish for Team 18, marking their first at Sandown. “It was really difficult in the driver’s seat knowing he is in the Finals,” De Pasquale said. “I didn’t want to become a highlights reel. The conditions were super changeable, and being in the lead was both the best and worst place to be.”

Will Brown finished third, making it a double podium for Triple Eight. Brown started the race from 17th on the grid, having parked early in qualifying again. Despite this, he made a remarkable comeback, gaining 14 positions in just 23 laps. At one point, he looked like the fastest driver on the track during the wet conditions.

“The wet was awesome; we carved our way through,” Brown said. “I wanted to get into the Final four. I think we had the fastest car this weekend, but we didn’t execute well in qualifying. I feel like we’re coming good at the right time of the year.”

Chaz Mostert, driving for Walkinshaw Andretti United, briefly challenged the leaders after switching to slicks early. However, he hit the wall at Turn 4 and dropped back, eventually finishing fourth as the leading Ford driver.

Brodie Kostecki took fifth place for Dick Johnson Racing (DJR), finishing just ahead of Kai Allen, who secured sixth. Allen, now with Penrite Racing, was one of the four drivers remaining in title contention for the final three races of the season. A year ago, DJR chose not to retain Allen, who was later signed by Grove Racing. His steady rookie campaign has seen him advance to the finals and he now looks like a rising star.

Two drivers who entered the race with title ambitions saw their hopes end in a single incident. On lap 52, Matt Payne (Grove Racing) and Cam Waters (Tickford) collided twice in quick succession. Waters suffered a flat tyre and later had a broken damper diagnosed, which ultimately eliminated him from the title race. Payne finished ninth, but a 22nd-place finish ended any chance of advancing to the final four.

The Grove team considered asking Allen to deliberately drop places in the final 20 laps to help Payne, but they decided against it. Meanwhile, Thomas Randle, who started ninth, fell back due to the changing weather conditions and finished 13th.

Feeney leads the points standings with 4,417 points, 30 points ahead of Mostert and 86 points ahead of Brown. Two Chevrolet and two Ford drivers have made it to the final four from three different teams.

The Supercars series will return for the final round on the streets of Adelaide from 27–30 November. Three races will determine the 2025 champion.
