Nedu Drags Regina to Rehab Again

The First Couple and the Divine Blueprint

The first couple, Adam and Eve, were technically siblings and biologically identical in DNA. Both had their bloodline traced back to Abba, and the bone that formed Eve came from Adam. Despite this close relationship, they faced a severe marital crisis when divine judgment loomed over them like the sword of Damocles. Adam blamed Eve, while she tried to shift responsibility onto the serpent. However, the Omniscient being saw through their attempts at blame-shifting. Adam, who was supposed to be the leader of the household, faced consequences for his actions, and Eve, portrayed as the “charmer,” also faced repercussions. The divine judgment concluded with the serpent being confined to eternal slithering.

According to Genesis, Adam was already a grown man before God noticed his loneliness and introduced Eve, after a deep slumber. This makes God the first surgeon and anesthesiologist. The biblical accounts suggest Eve was introduced as a companion and later became marriageable. Their delayed intimacy implied that Eve might have been younger than Adam, possibly due to her formation from a single rib, making her smaller and more delicate. This divine template cleared Adam of any perception of cradle-snatching, which is relevant in the case of Chinedu Munir Nwoko, a senator whose youngest wife, Regina Nwoko, is 41 years younger. However, modern laws now prohibit marrying someone below a certain age.

The Legal and Scientific Perspective on Early Marriage

The question arises: did the lawmaker break the law to acquire his bride six years ago? Beyond legal concerns, early marriage poses significant challenges, especially for females. Science indicates that brain maturation occurs between mid-20s and 30s, with female brains developing around age 25. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for complex functions like planning and decision-making, matures last. A not fully developed frontal lobe can lead to difficulties with planning, impulse control, and emotional regulation.

These issues can result in poor judgment, difficulty with executive functions, personality changes, and social challenges. Individuals may act impulsively, struggle with tasks, and have trouble understanding social cues. Frontal lobe issues can also affect attention, focus, and problem-solving abilities. Impulsive behavior, risk-taking, and inappropriate emotional reactions are common consequences.

The Impact on Young People and Relationships

This scientific explanation speaks to many parents struggling with difficult youth. Tantrums and behavioral issues can be understood through this lens, offering relief to those who feel their children are out of control. It also provides insight into how to relate to young people without labeling them irredeemable. For instance, a man trying to cope with a teenage wife could find solace in these findings. Similarly, parents considering marrying off their teenage daughters should consider this scientific reality before making such decisions.

Even though science isn’t absolute, it’s clear that growth and development require cultivation. If God is against growth, we would all come as adults, not babies. At least, with Adam and Eve, He did.

The Storm in Mr. Nedu’s Household

The tempest in Mr. Nedu’s household is escalating, moving from a tropical disturbance to a full-blown cyclone. Feuding parties and their supporters are engaged in blame-trade, leading to fury, retribution, and revenge. I pray there would be neither Hurricane Ned nor Typhoon Reg. Unfortunately, the storm seems inevitable, with receipts and counter-claims flying out of family closets.

Ned, the supposed adult in the room, is acting like a child, displaying behaviors reminiscent of a kindergarten. He should defend allegations of underage marriage but must do so with maturity. Regina should also speak her truth about the alleged events behind closed doors. The one with a fully developed frontal lobe should maintain dignity and avoid low tactics.

Belief in the Senator’s Account

In the matter of Regina’s true age at the time of marriage, I choose to believe the senator that he wasn’t marrying an underage individual. Even if she was 17, which is below the legal age of 18, the evidence provided by Nwoko, such as Regina’s voter’s card, cleared him of any unconstitutional act. However, money cannot short-circuit growth, especially mental growth. A child will always be a child, regardless of their gifts or talents.

Drug Abuse and Conjugal Relations

Regarding drug abuse and getting high for conjugal relations, I believe Regina, especially since Ned couldn’t convince anyone that she was a junkie. The saga began with Sammy, the older brother, allegedly tricking his sister into getting high for her husband. The other wife, taking the side of Ned, after initially dumping him, adds another layer to the complexity.

Yoruba say wealth can come with troubles, and Proverbs 17:1 echoes this sentiment. Imagine someone splurging on expensive “highs” in a challenging economy when N5,000 can barely feed a day. However, Ned, a sitting senator with an expansive business network, can afford such luxuries. Despite the marital issues, they still appear as a power couple.

The Need for Help and Resolution

Both Ned and Reg are troubled and need help, regardless of the public facade they maintain. I imagine the man going to bed, worrying about what he might wake up to from his battle-ready online in-laws. I will end by committing Nwoko to a Yoruba wise saying about why an elder should avoid fights with younger individuals. If he defeats the younger opponent, he would be a shameless elder pummeling a junior; if defeated, he would be an elder shamed by a junior. Either way, he is a loser.

May everyone in the conflict receive sense. If they can’t resolve their crisis like Adam and Eve, who found solace in each other after their guilty pronouncements, they should stay apart and save their children and other decent members of the two families from further embarrassment.

Final Thoughts

Need I remind them, even the little damage they have done to themselves, the internet won’t forget, just like God reminded Moses of Adam and Eve in documenting the book of Genesis. The reminder is lasting human existence. May divine peace envelope the combatants.
