Empowering Youth Through Content Creation

Young citizens across the country are being encouraged to take charge of their future by engaging in content creation. This initiative is aimed at fostering self-reliance and contributing to the nation’s growth and development. A top content creator from Nasarawa State, Rahamat Audu Yahaya, emphasized this during the first edition of the Content Creators and Influencers Seminar held in Lafia.

Yahaya highlighted the pressing issue of unemployment among young people, noting that many have lost their self-esteem due to financial instability. She believes that content creation offers a viable solution, enabling youths to generate income through social media rather than relying on traditional white-collar jobs.

The seminar, titled “Mastering Social Media For Growth, Impact and Income,” aimed to educate participants on how to leverage social media platforms effectively. According to Yahaya, social media can be a source of real income, but it depends on the quality of content and the number of views generated. She advised aspiring content creators to focus on consistency and clarity in their work.

The Role of Social Media in Civic Awareness

During the seminar, Faisal Sanusi Ibrahim discussed the importance of civility in content creation. He stressed that understanding the rules of engagement on social media is crucial to avoid legal issues. Ibrahim also mentioned the Developing Africa Group, which supports content creators in earning income while advertising for international companies.

Rahamat Audu Yahaya was recognized by the Developing Africa Group for her efforts in promoting content creation within Nasarawa State. Ibrahim praised her dedication, highlighting her role in spreading the group’s mission and bringing others on board.

Ibrahim further urged content creators to maintain religious tolerance and use their platforms to amplify the voices of the masses. He emphasized that humanity should always come first in content creation.

Understanding Content Creation and Its Types

Abubakar Sulaiman Ogah, a lecturer at the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, addressed the topic of content creation and its various forms, including video, blogs, social media, and podcasts. He stressed the importance of creating content that adheres to platform policies to avoid violations or inciting violence.

Ogah noted that many young people tend to push boundaries to gain viral attention, which can lead to negative consequences. He encouraged participants to understand the rules and regulations governing content creation.

Monetization Opportunities in Content Creation

Muhammad Yusuf, the Chairman of Nasarawa Tiktokers, spoke about the potential of content creation in addressing unemployment. He explained that many young people in the state are now earning well through social media, making significant impacts in their communities.

Yusuf shared that the Nasarawa Tiktokers have over 100 members with a collective following of more than 20 million on the platform. The seminar provided an opportunity for content creators to learn about monetization, restrictions, and other relevant topics.

Event Highlights and Attendees

The event attracted over 1,000 content creators and featured various activities, including paper and slide presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and award presentations. Notable attendees included Abdullahi Amwe, a commissioner from the Nasarawa State Teachers Service Commission.
