Former Raiders WR Davante Adams released by New York Jets

What was supposed to be a big reunion with Aaron Rodgers and the key to unlocking the success he and Adams once enjoyed in Green Bay never really materialized.

So, ultimately the Raiders traded a first and second round pick to get 37 games with Davante Adams and a third round pick. And the Jets got 11 games of Adams which amounted to three wins.

Adams heads to the free agent market for the first time in his career. While a return to the Silver & Black would seem highly unlikely, the Raiders still being in need of a starting receiver is helped by Adams’s addition to the free agent market. It means another team who may have otherwise been competing with them to sign a free agent receiver, will shift their efforts to Adams instead. Thus eliminating a team from a potential bidding war.
