Gombe State APC Endorses President Tinubu for 2027 Elections

The Gombe State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. This decision was made during the party’s State Congress, which took place on Tuesday to elect new leadership for the next four years.

The endorsement was proposed by the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, and seconded by Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed, a member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency. The motion received overwhelming support from other party members through voice affirmation.

During his address at the congress, State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya highlighted the significance of endorsing President Tinubu. He described it as a demonstration of appreciation for courageous and quality leadership amid the nation’s current economic and governance challenges.

Gombe as an APC Stronghold

Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized that Gombe State is a stronghold of the APC. He noted that the party’s impressive membership strength and unity have positioned it among the most vibrant chapters nationwide.

He revealed that the state recorded over 400,000 registered members during the party’s recent e-registration and membership revalidation exercise, placing Gombe 10th nationwide. This achievement, he said, was driven by the growing confidence of the people in the APC administration at both state and federal levels.

Inuwa Yahaya added:

“I am proud of what we have achieved over the years as a party and as a government. Over these years, we have executed projects and implemented policies and programmes that impacted lives especially in underserved communities.”

He also praised the Federal Government under President Tinubu, highlighting the leadership qualities of courage, commitment, and vision demonstrated by the president.

“At no time that we requested for support to deliver impactful services to our people that the president did not support us. I can proudly say that we now have a purposeful leadership,” he stated.

Unity and Preparation for Victory

The governor emphasized that unity remains the greatest strength of the party in the state. He assured the national leadership that the APC family in Gombe is firmly united and prepared to secure victory in the next general election.

“In Gombe, the APC is united. Everyone is involved, and we are working together with a shared purpose. I assure you that I will continue to steer the party towards greater success and eventual victory across all levels in 2027,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to the national leadership of the party, particularly the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for their commitment to strengthening internal democracy and party cohesion across the country.

Smooth Conduct of the Congress

Earlier, the Chairman of the Gombe State APC Congress Committee, Dr. Danjuma Adamu Dabo, stated that Gombe had adopted the consensus mode for the election exercise. He disclosed that all the consensus candidates were successfully screened by the national screening committee, with no one challenging the process.

Dr. Dabo expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya and party stakeholders in the state for providing a favorable atmosphere for the committee to conduct a hitch-free congress from the ward to the state level.

New Leadership and Future Commitment

The newly elected Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mohammed Dantata Ndus, described the APC state congress as historic and a milestone in the life and history of the party in the state. He expressed gratitude to the governor for his leadership in championing a strong APC structure, assuring him and members of the party that the new leadership would work as a team to create a strong sense of partisanship among loyalists and give full support in the drive to deliver victory for the party at all levels.

The outgoing Chairman of the APC, Mr. Nitte Amangal, thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya, party stakeholders, as well as members for their support and solidarity during his tenure. He assured that even though their tenure had elapsed, they would continue to commit themselves to party activities and ensure the party’s resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.

Attendees and Support

The congress was attended by a wide range of party faithful, including the Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau; serving and former members of the National Assembly; the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi; Chief of Staff, Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari; commissioners; chairpersons of local government councils; and other key stakeholders, among others.
