Celebrating 30 Years of Leadership and Peace in Ilorin Emirate
The Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has marked a significant milestone in his reign with the celebration of his 30th anniversary on the throne. This occasion has been widely recognized and praised by various leaders and institutions across Kwara State and beyond. The event has brought together notable figures who have commended the Emir for his transformative leadership and contributions to the development of the Ilorin Emirate.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Commendation
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his admiration for the Emir’s leadership, highlighting the positive developments that have taken place in the Ilorin Emirate over the past three decades. In a statement released by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor noted that the city has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and beautiful communities under the Emir’s rule. He praised the Emir’s calmness, wisdom, and commitment to good governance, infrastructural renewal, and sociocultural transformation.
The governor also acknowledged the Emir’s reputation as a retired senior judge, emphasizing his dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and development. He wished the Emir continued good health, guidance, and protection from Allah during his reign.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly Honors the Emir
Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, also extended his congratulations to the Emir. In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, the speaker described the Emir as a vanguard of peace, harmony, and overall development. He highlighted the remarkable infrastructural and human capital developments that have taken place in the state during the Emir’s reign. The speaker also emphasized the role of the Emir as the chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council in promoting peace and development not only in the Ilorin Emirate but also in Kwara and Nigeria at large.
Industrialist Dr Kamoru Yusuf Praises the Emir
Dr Kamoru Yusuf, the managing director of Kam Holding Ltd, also rejoiced with the Emir on the occasion. He praised the city of Ilorin for attaining cosmopolitan status under the Emir’s leadership. Yusuf noted that the Emir embodies patriotism and has ensured peaceful co-existence among residents of Ilorin, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
Academic Leaders Recognize the Emir’s Contributions
Prof Shaykh-Lukman Jimoh, vice chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, described the Emir as an exemplary traditional ruler. He highlighted the 30 years of peaceful reign that have fostered unity and development, strengthening the social and moral fabric of the Ilorin Emirate. Prof Jimoh also congratulated the governor and the people of Kwara State for witnessing this milestone in the history of the Ilorin Emirate.
Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, also congratulated the Emir on the occasion. He described the 30-year reign as a testament to the Emir’s unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and profound impact on the peace, unity, and progress of the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State. He praised the Emir’s efforts in fostering peace and harmony within the emirate and his commitment to uplifting the less privileged.
Founder of Al-Hikmah University Congratulates the Emir
Alh Abdur-Raheem Oladimeji, founder of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, also congratulated the Emir on his 30th coronation anniversary. He described the reign as remarkable, noting that the Emir’s bridge-building efforts have transformed the city. Oladimeji expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the gift of health, life, wisdom, and sound judgment bestowed upon the Emir.
Recognition from Other Institutions
Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, the Mutawalli of Ilorin, praised the Emir for his transformative leadership and immense contributions to the development of the Ilorin Emirate. He noted that the Emir’s reign has brought about significant advancements in infrastructure, education, and cultural revival.
Prof Abubakar Sulaiman, director general of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja, also commended the Emir’s 30-year reign. He described it as a watershed moment in the annals of the ancient city, marking unprecedented achievements since the Emir’s ascension to the throne in 1995.
Union of Journalists and Gamji Members Association Express Support
The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also congratulated the Emir on the occasion. In a statement jointly signed by the council’s chairman, Abdullateef Ahmed, and secretary, Olayinka Alaya, the union praised the Emir’s leadership and support for education, journalism, and good governance. They highlighted his role as a pillar of stability and a bridge-builder among communities.
The Gamji Members Association (GAMA) in Kwara State also rejoiced with the Emir on his 30th coronation anniversary. In a statement signed by its president general, Alh Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, and director of publicity, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, GAMA expressed delight that the reign of the 11th Emir of Ilorin has been peaceful, similar to the glorious reign of his father, the ninth Emir, Alhaji Sulukarnaini Gambari. The association also noted the continued development in the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State during the last 30 years of the Emir’s reign.
