Racki’s Overtime Goal Leads Pentucket to Thrilling Victory

Boys Hockey

In a thrilling overtime showdown, John Racki scored the game-winning goal as No. 18 Pentucket (8-12-1) advanced to the Div. 3 Round of 16 with a 4-3 victory over No. 15 Lunenburg. The win showcased the team’s resilience and determination.

In the Div. 1 first round, Jack Barry found the back of the net in overtime as No. 5 Reading (17-3-2) outlasted No. 28 Braintree with a 1-0 win. This victory highlights Reading’s strong performance in the postseason.

Boys Basketball

Junior Yhan Medina and freshman Arber Beqaj led the way with 19 points each, helping No. 24 Quincy (17-5) defeat No. 41 Hopkinton in a Div. 1 preliminary round game with a final score of 81-58.

In the Div. 2 Round of 32, Rolky Brea Arias exploded for 29 points, leading top-ranked St. Mary’s (20-3) to a dominant 74-45 win over No. 32 Minnechaug. Jadon Beatty contributed 20 points as No. 10 Archbishop Williams secured a 49-41 victory over No. 23 Westwood.

In a Div. 3 preliminary, Amare Bramwell and Burke Lombardi each scored 20 points, leading No. 29 Nantucket (15-6) to a 71-53 win over No. 36 Oakmont. Senior Stephen Saber added 14 points as No. 30 Dover-Sherborn (13-8) narrowly defeated No. 35 Monomoy with a 47-44 score.

Sophomore Will Olinto recorded a double-double (20 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists), while junior Karem Amparo (23 points, nine rebounds) and senior RJ Jimenez (20 points, eight rebounds) provided offensive support as No. 19 Latin Academy (16-5) dominated No. 46 High School of Commerce with a 77-52 victory.

In the Div. 4 preliminary round, Parker DeLong scored 30 points, with Joseph Moro adding 18 points for No. 26 Amesbury (9-12) in a 77-55 win over No. 39 Hampshire. Thomas Edwards poured in 30 points as No. 16 Avon (13-6) edged No. 17 Bartlett in the Div. 5 first round.

Girls Basketball

In the Div. 1 first round, Camry Williams scored 17 points as No. 8 Woburn (20-1) defeated No. 25 Shrewsbury 62-44. Kayla Dunlap finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and four steals as No. 6 Natick (17-4) topped No. 27 Waltham 65-29.

Elle Orlando collected 23 points and eight steals as No. 27 Notre Dame of Hingham (14-7) outlasted No. 38 Marblehead 50-44 in overtime in the Div. 2 preliminary round. Alana MacLean contributed 15 points, six rebounds, and four steals as No. 18 Fontbonne (15-6) defeated No. 15 Lowell 44-33.

Girls Hockey

In a Div. 2 first round contest, Stephanie LeBlanc and Ella Morgan each scored two goals, leading fifth-seeded King Philip (20-2-1) to a 6-0 shutout of No. 28 Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake.

Leah Toner scored the game-winner in overtime as No. 13 Hanover (15-6) edged No. 20 Walpole 2-1. Emma Ebert tied the score in regulation and was the overtime hero in Wakefield/Wilmington’s 3-2 double overtime victory over Marshfield. Hingham’s reign atop Div. 1 came to an end in the opening round of the postseason as No. 26 Waltham secured a 3-2 overtime victory to upset the seventh-seeded defending champions.
