Commonwealth Aids Bangladesh’s Pre-Election Reforms

London, June 11 — General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey stated on Tuesday that the organization is eager to assist Bangladesh with political reforms prior to the scheduled general elections next year.

“Should Bangladesh require assistance, we will gladly offer our support, particularly regarding constitutional changes,” Botchwey stated after calling upon Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus at his London hotel.

Botchwey mentioned that assisting member countries in adopting democracy and sound governance is among the primary objectives for the organization over the coming five years, according to Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder from the office of the Chief Adviser.

She mentioned that enhancing trade and investment as well as assisting member countries combat climate change are among the other key focuses.

Acknowledging that the Commonwealth represents 2.7 billion individuals, the representative from Ghana stated that the current yearly trade between member countries amounts to approximately $850 billion and shared their intention to increase this figure to at least $1 trillion in the upcoming years.

She mentioned that numerous Commonwealth nations face significant impacts from climate change, with many of these member countries being relatively tiny in land area.

She mentioned that they would attempt to assist with obtaining climate financing.
