Beauty knows no age: Japan’s seniors embrace glamour in a growing market

In Japan, where the population is rapidly aging, seniors are embracing beauty regimens. Shiseido Co. has been providing complimentary makeup lessons for the elderly, teaching them techniques such as eyebrow drawing and facial massages.

More than a quarter of Japan’s population is over 65 years old, and businesses are targeting this demographic. Specialists point out that older individuals, including “cool grandpas” and “cute grannies,” are looking for high-end products and want to maintain a stylish appearance, showing that age is not a barrier to being attractive.
