According to a source close to the Duke, the relationship between Harry and the King is something that should remain between the two of them. The source added, “The men in grey suits should stay out of it.” This sentiment highlights the growing tension between Harry’s team and the royal court, which has been intensifying in recent weeks.
The conflict escalated after reports surfaced about secret talks aimed at bringing the King and his younger son together in a public display of unity. These discussions suggested that Harry might participate in more public events in Britain, though not as an active member of the Royal Family. This came after a 50-minute meeting between Harry and the King at Clarence House, their first face-to-face encounter in 18 months.
However, shortly after the report was published, insiders began leaking information to the press, claiming that Harry would never be allowed to return as a “half-in, half-out” working royal. One anonymous source even joked that those in Team Harry had “mistaken a brief tea and a slice of cake for the Treaty of Versailles.”
Further tensions arose when The Sun reported that Harry’s meeting with his father was “distinctly formal,” and that the Duke described it as “very official, like an official visit.” The newspaper claimed the exchange was awkward and resembled a dignitary visit. It also noted that the meeting was the shortest of the day and that there were no plans for the pair to appear together publicly.
In response, Harry’s spokesperson issued a sharp statement, calling the reports “categorically false” and suggesting they were fueled by sources trying to sabotage any reconciliation. The spokesperson also denied claims that Harry had given his father a framed photo of himself with Meghan and their children. While confirming that a photograph was exchanged, the spokesperson clarified that it did not include the couple.
Harry has long criticized senior palace figures, whom he believes are behind negative stories about him and his wife, Meghan. In his memoir, Spare, he referred to a mysterious trio he called “Bee, Wasp and Fly,” who he said were responsible for the negotiations that led to his and Meghan stepping down from public duties in 2020.

Despite these efforts, the road to reconciliation remains fraught. One insider recently told the MoS that if Harry’s name is mentioned in William’s presence, he could be thrown out of the room.
