Susan Akinyi Okoth, a resilient mother of five school-going children, received a new and decent house, built with love and compassion. Before this life-changing gift, Okoth lived in deplorable conditions. The house she occupied was in a pathetic state, not fit for any human being. She also suffered from high blood pressure, adding to her challenges.
Her struggles began after her husband was hacked to death in the middle of the night, leaving her with a monstrous burden on her shoulders. Caring for her young children singlehandedly has not been easy, especially after her husband’s death. Her biggest challenge has been educating her five children and providing them with proper clothing. To make ends meet, she took on menial jobs at a nearby primary school called Anyiko Primary.

Okoth was relieved and elated as she moved into her new house, courtesy of PS Amollo. She could not contain her joy after receiving the life-changing gift, which will have a positive impact on her children’s lives and hers. The new house has four rooms, including a sizeable sitting room, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a store. Previously, she lived in a mabati house that was in a deplorable state and even posed a risk to her and her children.
She was almost overwhelmed with emotions as fellow widows joined her for a small house-opening celebration. They held a prayer session in her new home, dedicating it and praying for provision. Okoth was seen in tears during the prayer session, sitting on a wooden chair, bowing her head. Other women surrounded her, also bowing their heads in prayer, as they stood with Okoth, knowing how much she had been through.
