A week following their appearance in the First Four of the NCAA tournament, the Saint Francis Red Flash have declared that they will cease competing at the Division I level for college basketball.
The announcement stated that starting this July, the school plans to shift its basketball programs to the Division III level and join the Presidents’ Athletic Conference for the 2026-27 academic year. Although the official transition begins this summer, Saint Francis University will participate in one additional season at the Division I level within the Northeast Conference. They recently clinched their victory in the conference earlier this month, securing their spot in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
Saint Francis lost to Alabama State.
