A Deepening Family Crisis

Ned Nwoko, the estranged husband of Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has revealed a series of troubling incidents that have further strained his already fragile relationship with his wife. In a series of social media posts accompanied by videos, Nwoko shared details about his financial and emotional support for Regina’s family, as well as the challenges he has faced in trying to help her recover from substance abuse.

Financial Support and Personal Sacrifices

According to Nwoko, he has provided significant financial assistance to members of Regina’s family over the past two years. He claims to have given his mother-in-law, Rita Daniels, at least N125 million. Additionally, he sponsored the education of Sammy West, Regina’s elder brother, who is currently in detention. Nwoko described how he supported Sammy during his last two years at the University of Ekpoma, including purchasing his musical instruments and renting a flat for him in Abuja. He also bought a house for Regina in Asaba before their marriage, which was intended for use by all of them.

In addition to these gestures, Nwoko stated that he regularly provided allowances to all members of the family, including Rita Daniels. He emphasized that his financial support was not just an act of generosity but a reflection of his commitment to the family.

The Struggle with Substance Abuse

Nwoko explained that Regina’s rehabilitation process was initiated after he noticed concerning changes in her behavior, including long periods without sleep and erratic eating habits. Doctors advised strict restrictions on access to Regina, particularly limiting contact with individuals who might enable her addiction. However, Nwoko claims that this directive was repeatedly ignored by Regina’s siblings and friends.

He specifically pointed to Sammy, Destiny, and other family members, along with friends like Sonia Uche Montana, as key figures who defied the doctors’ instructions. These individuals, according to Nwoko, would enter the house uninvited and bring Regina the very substances she was being treated for. This behavior, he said, not only hindered her recovery but also encouraged her continued dependence on drugs.

A History of Conflict and Disruption

Nwoko recounted several instances where Regina’s family members disrupted the household. He described a situation where Regina entered his room while under the influence of drugs, despite his clear disapproval of such behavior. When he asked her to leave, she claimed that Sammy’s girlfriend was in her room. Nwoko was alarmed and angry, as the girl was known to be one of the enablers supplying Regina with drugs.

The situation escalated when Sammy arrived at Nwoko’s home, shouting and demanding that he face him. Nwoko described how Sammy threatened to physically confront him, waking up the children and creating a chaotic environment. Eventually, security had to intervene to remove Sammy from the premises.

Ongoing Tension and Violent Incidents

Nwoko also highlighted the ongoing tension between his family and Regina’s relatives. He mentioned that some of Regina’s family members, including Sammy and his girlfriend NK, were also users of the same drugs. He criticized their involvement, stating that instead of helping Regina, they were perpetuating her addiction.

There were multiple instances where Regina left the house without permission, often returning late at night. On one occasion, she stayed out all night and returned the next morning, claiming she was at a nightclub. Nwoko discovered that she had been with Cassie, a chemist and supplier of the drugs. He had to go to Life Camp to ask Cassie to leave, which further complicated Regina’s recovery efforts.

A Call for Change

Nwoko expressed frustration with the ongoing interference from Regina’s family, particularly her siblings and friends. He believes that Sammy should pursue a life outside of Regina and focus on his own career. Nwoko also mentioned that he had offered Sammy the opportunity to study abroad, similar to his brother Lawrence, but Sammy declined.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for comprehensive rehabilitation for Sammy, warning that without it, his violent behavior would continue. Nwoko stressed that the entire household lived in constant tension due to the disruptive actions of those around Regina.

A Complex Web of Relationships

The situation highlights the complex dynamics within the family and the challenges faced by Nwoko in trying to support Regina’s recovery. His detailed account paints a picture of a man caught between his love for his wife and the overwhelming pressure from her extended family. As the crisis continues, the outcome remains uncertain, with both sides seemingly unwilling to back down.
