Female players have secured the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.

The boss’s men have been in the thick of it, trying to broker deals to bring new faces in and move on unwanted players. However, at this stage, they’ve come up empty-handed, with no official transfers completed yet.

Paraguayan left back Diego Leon is in Manchester today for a medical examination, ahead of an announcement that is expected to confirm him as a new Manchester United player.

United will pay Cerro Porteno £3.2 million plus a further £1 million in easy add-ons, and over £2.8 million in difficult-to-achieve bonuses – according to Fabrizio Romano.

León will officially join United in July 2025.

While this transfer is expected to be confirmed, potentially on Sunday, United Women have actually got their own deal signed off.

Manchester United Women have officially signed young goalkeeper Kayla Rendell from Southampton FC.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract until summer 2027 with the club holding a 12-month extension option, as is the case with the men.

Rendell is regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in England, making 134 appearances for the Saints and receiving an England squad call-up.

What did Rendell say?

“It’s a privilege to be signing for Manchester United and I’m excited to join the squad and get underway. I’m eager to take the next step in my profession and contribute to the team’s pursuit of success at Old Trafford,” she said on joining the Red Devils.”

“I would like to express my gratitude to Southampton for all the support and opportunities they have offered me since I joined as a nine-year-old girl. I will always treasure many wonderful memories of my time with them.”

Manchester City are currently second in the Super League, just one point ahead of leaders United Women.

On Saturday, Manchester United Women’s team beat West Brom 7-0 in the FA Cup, which they had won the previous year.

United’s players will be hoping this success will inspire them for their next match, which is against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.
