Planning a golf trip to Mallorca or a sunny getaway to the Balearic Island?
There are plenty of stunning hotels and venues to stay at on this beautiful island. However, one of the best, that you absolutely must consider visiting is the exquisite Zafiro Palace Hotel in Alcudia.
Situated just a 40-minute drive from Palma Airport on the north-eastern coast of the Island, this resort is perfectly placed for golfers wanting to check out the best courses on the Island, including the venue for this year’s Hotel Planner Tour Grand Final, Club de Golf Alcanada.
There is also the outstanding Pollensa Golf Club, just a short drive out west, while one of my favourite courses in Mallorca, Pula, is only an hour’s drive away to the south-east.
I spent three days in Mallorca playing golf and exploring everything that the island has to offer, and I have to say, the Zafiro Palace Alcudia blew me away.
It is the first resort that the Zafiro Palace Collection established on the island, with the chain also having locations in Port d’andratx and Palmanova, which are both equally stunning resorts.

The Zafiro Alcudia boasts an elegant and modern design that draws you through the main lobby and out to the expansive pool and gardens area.
You’ll be greeted by the resort’s friendly staff on arrival, who couldn’t do enough for me during my stay, notably asking to carry my golf clubs to my room on my arrival. It’s always the small things like this that make any hotel experience stand out, and Zafiro Palace Alcudia has absolutely nailed them.
This five-star luxury hotel was built and opened in 2015 and has been inspired by some of the greatest Caribbean resorts, and as its website states, the designers have utilised large spaces to give this an elite feel.
That quality feeling transcends everything from the hotel’s rooms to its outstanding restaurant, which I will speak more about in just a moment.
The Facilities
I was taken aback by the size of the hotel. It is laid out on a square plot of land with hotel rooms overlooking the main pool and bar area. It is expansive and impressive, but everything within the confines of the hotel is beautifully maintained, with lush palm trees and tropical plants lining the walkways around the grounds.
The hotel is a fantastic venue for families, too. There are plenty of activities on offer, with the Zafiro Palace Alcudia boasting four large pools. That includes a main pool for swimming and relaxing and a kids’ pool, which comes with a play area and a giant pirate ship that has multiple built-in slides. There is also an over-18s Oasis pool, where adults can relax and chill out away from their little ones. Finally, the hotel has its very own training pool, where guests can swim lengths and work on their fitness.
While I’m on the subject of fitness, the annual Mallorca IRONMAN is hosted just a five-minute walk from the hotel in Alcudia, and many athletes competing in the triathlon choose to stay at the Zafiro Palace, given the impressive fitness facilities on offer here.

Along with the training pool, the hotel has a state-of-the-art gym complete with treadmills, training bikes and a comprehensive set of weights, which will help athletes or anyone looking to keep up their fitness during their stay well entertained.
That brings me on very nicely to the hotel’s spa, the ultimate place to relax following a long round on the golf course or a long day cycling around the Mallorcan hills.
Guests at Zafiro Palace Alcudia can unwind with one of the spa’s many treatments, including massages and skin facials. After your massage, there’s no better place to relax than the spa’s whirlpool. Take a dunk and enjoy the bubbles massaging your muscles as you reflect on your round.
The Rooms
One of the very cool things I personally enjoyed during my stay at the Zafiro Palace Alcudia was the private swim-up pools and jacuzzis on offer. While not every room at the resort has its own private pool, the swim-up suites add an extra level of class and luxury to your stay.
The Zafiro Palace Alcudia has a variety of rooms available, catering to both families or those looking for a more exclusive and private stay.
They include stunning Owner Suite and Royal Terraces on the top floor, which boasts their own sun terrace and jacuzzi, to the equally stunning ground floor swim-up suites, that come complete with their own patio and living space.
The rooms are fully fitted to cater to your needs and I had one of the best night’s sleep in a very soft king-sized bed. Each room’s bathroom comes with twin sinks and a modern shower that is complete with toiletries sourced from local providers.

Food And Drink
Now for the important part. And you will not be disappointed.
Impressively, the Zafiro Palace Alcudia has five restaurants, two bars, a coffee shop and its very own coffee truck, meaning you will not go hungry during your stay here.
The hotel’s Market Buffet restaurant is the perfect place to stop by for breakfast, lunch or a casual dinner, serving up a plethora of both hot and cold dishes. From croissants and made-to-order omelettes in the morning to a range of international delicacies in the evening, I wanted to keep coming back here to sample the next round of tastes the hotel’s chefs were serving up each night.
During my stay, I ate at the El Olivo, the hotel’s quintessential Mediterranean restaurant that plates up traditional flavours from the Balearic Islands. I loved the crispy lemon squid and the slow-cooked suckling pig loaf, which was washed down with a beautiful red wine, sourced from the local Vi de la Terra vineyard.

It was one of the best fine-dining experiences I’ve had in Mallorca, with the restaurant’s helpful staff walking us through the menu, before returning to keep our glasses topped up throughout the meal.
The hotel also has its own Italian restaurant, El Portico, a grill and bistro called La Veranda, and the excellent Tastes and Sushi Bar, which serves some outstanding Asian dishes, using fresh produce bought from the Port of Alcudia.
Fancy an afternoon tipple? Guests can also swim up to the Wet Bar and Dry bar and cool down with one of the bar’s icy cold cocktails in the baking Mallorcan sun.
Something For Everyone
There really is something for everyone at the Zafiro Palace Alcudia.
For families, it is an excellent place to unwind if you’re looking for a well-priced summer getaway. Children will love the activities and facilities on offer here. The hotel also provides shows each night, which are not loud and overbearing but are humourous and will have everyone entertained.

With the Mallorcan IRONMAN’s finish line being literally a 10-minute walk away on the beach, fitness fanatics will love this hotel too. From hearty food to superior training facilities, and even the opportunity to take advantage of the hotel’s cycling station, where you can rent a state-of-the-art bike for a great price, this is the perfect stay for anyone planning on taking on the epic triathlon in 2026.
And then for the golfers. One of the best things about this hotel is that the staff will plan out the perfect golf holiday for you. All you need to do is fill in a form with your preferences, and the Zafiro Palace staff will organise everything from club hire to transfers to the course. The Zafiro Palace Alcudia can even save you a bit of money, offering up discounted green fees if you book with the hotel.
The Last Word
The Zafiro Palace Alcudia is a paradise on the north-east coast of Mallorca.
While this hotel exudes luxury, it is very well priced, with suites starting at £105.71 per night.
It is a welcoming and friendly hotel which serves up some outstanding food options. You’ll want to keep coming back to this resort time and time again.
