President-elect Donald Trump will issue “a blizzard of executive orders” as soon as he inaugurated Jan. 20, Sen. John Barrasso predicted Sunday.
Speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation”, the Wyoming Republican said, “When President Trump takes office next Monday, there’s going to be shock and awe with a multitude of executive orders. A flurry of executive orders on the economy, as well as on the border.”
Executive orders have the potential to give a president more power because they can be implemented without Congressional approval. However, Barrasso, the new Senate majority whip, predicts that in addition to executive orders, Trump will also rely on the small Republican majority in the Senate and the even slimmer majority in the House to get his policies passed.
When we met with President Trump a few days ago,” he told host Margaret Brennan, “President Trump emphasized that the Senate’s top priority should be confirming his staff picks. I’ve had meetings with almost all of them. I back every single one of these nominees. As the whip, my role is to ensure they’re confirmed so they can get to work and President Trump has his team in place early.
Senator Barrasso stated it isn’t a concern for President Trump what number of bills are necessary to be passed, as long as legislation is successfully put into action.
The President said he doesn’t care if it’s one bill, two bills, or three bills. He wants to see results.
