IPL: SRH’s Muralitharan Believes 300-Run Mark Within Reach With Key Batsman Explosions

Ahead of their upcoming IPL match against Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinning coach Muttiah Muralitharan stated that they will require two of their batsmen to perform exceptionally well to reach an unprecedented total of 300 runs in the tournament for the first time. This statement was made from Visakhapatnam (in Andhra Pradesh, India) on March 29 by ANI.

After losing to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) following an exciting opening match against the Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Delhi Capitals (DC), led by Axar Patel, at Vizag. The Delhi Capitals enter this contest fresh off a nail-biting one-wicket victory over LSG in their initial encounter, largely due to Ashutosh Sharma’s remarkable innings which propelled them from 65/5 to successfully chasing down 210 runs.

Before the game at the press conference, Muralitharan stated, “The media is aiming for a total of 300, but our recent performance against LSG was close to 287. It’s unpredictable; sometimes, two batsmen might need to play major innings to reach that mark.”

Following their defeat against LSG in the previous match, where Nicholas Pooran scored an impressive 70 runs off just 25 balls during a 191-run chase against SRH, Muralitharan praised Pooran’s performance and voiced optimism that the team would recover from this setback.

“We can’t emerge victorious in each match. Wins and losses are inevitable; they’re integral parts of the game. Despite this, we remain steadfast and ready to recover.” In our initial encounter with the Lucknow Super Giants, Lady Luck seemed to be against us. Subsequently, Nicholas Pooran delivered one of his finest performances for their team. Such occurrences are common. A total of 190 runs proved formidable, yet Pooran’s contribution set him apart. However, we aim to regain our footing. Our spirits are high, bolstered by both our skipper and mentor expressing strong confidence,” he stated.
