The lawyer said on Thursday that he would appeal the federal judge’s decision to temporarily put on hold Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship.
“Obviously, we will appeal it,” Trump told reporters at the Oval Office. “They referred the case to a judge in Seattle apparently. I assume that’s accurate. And it wouldn’t be surprising to have this judge hearing the case.”
Preventing the Trump administration from implementing it after being prompted by four Democratic-led states: Washington, Illinois, Arizona, and Oregon.

On the evening of Monday, following his swearing-in ceremony, the new policy was slated to take effect after February 19th.
The phrase is from the Constitution and states that every person who is born or becomes a citizen of the United States through naturalization is considered a citizen.
This order has also become the subject of several lawsuits filed by civil rights groups and Democratic attorneys general from 22 states, who claim that it infringes upon the United States Constitution.
