Bueckers, hailing from Minnesota, achieved three First-team All-America honors and was awarded both the AP Player of the Year and the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2021.

During her sophomore year, she largely sat out due to a tibial plateau fracture and a meniscus tear. Before the subsequent season began, she suffered an ACL injury as well.

Bueckers concluded her collegiate tenure by guiding the UConn Huskies to an 82-59 triumph over the reigning champion University of South Carolina Gamecocks in the NCAA Tournament Championship on Sunday. This win marked UConn’s first title since 2016, breaking a nine-year championship drought for the squad.

“It has been a tale of resilience, gratitude, and conquering hardships while addressing life’s obstacles,” Bueckers stated. “I would not exchange it for anything.”

In this year’s Elite Eight match against Oklahoma, she achieved a personal best of 40 points.
