Following President Joe Biden’s inauguration and the January 6 Capitol riots, Jones led MSNBC to new success by negotiating with top news personalities like Rachel Maddow and launching digital features such as a mobile app and premium subscription services.

Comcast is splitting off a new publicly traded company. The new company, called SpinCo, will contain MSNBC, CNBC, the USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and the Golf Channel.

“Rashida has skillfully guided MSNBC through a years-long period marked by intense and record-breaking news coverage, while also leading the network to achieve record viewership numbers and investments in innovative business areas. MSNBC is well-equipped for the future,” stated Mark Lazarus, the incoming CEO of SpinCo.

Rebecca Kutler, senior vice president of content strategy at MSNBC, has been named interim president and will reportedly work alongside Lazarus as the network develops its “collective future together”.
