Small businesses in California employ 7 million people, yet disparities persist. Recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey reveals that the unemployment rate for Black and African Americans in California was 10.7% in June 2025, compared to a statewide rate of 5.4% during the same period. These disparities can often be attributed to limited access to resources, support, and opportunities.
