Russia aims to bolster its military by recruiting 150,000 additional soldiers, including a new contingent of North Korean troops, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Ukrainian leader warned about Russia’s troop surge and suggested that Poland and Lithuania could be Moscow’s next targets.
He said: “The intelligence has informed me that Russia plans to increase its army by 12 to 15 divisions in 2025, which we estimate will add around 150,000 troops,” according to the Russian newspaper Pravda.
He also highlighted the disparity in military strength: “Russia’s army is twice the size of ours. The European combat force, including American troops stationed there, is estimated to have around 82 combat brigades. Today, Ukraine’s army, with its 110 brigades, is holding off Russia’s 220 brigades.”
The Ukrainian leader urged European nations to deploy 200,000 troops to help maintain peace in Ukraine.
