A New Political Chapter for Enugu State
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant political shift was revealed during a press conference held in Enugu, the state capital, marking a pivotal moment for the South-East region.
Mbah explained that his move was driven by a desire to deepen development efforts and align Enugu with a broader national vision. The governor emphasized that this decision was not made lightly but after careful consideration and reflection.
A Reflection on Achievements
In his address, Mbah expressed deep gratitude to God and the people of Enugu for their support over the past 28 months. He acknowledged the trust placed in him and his administration, which he believes was crucial in achieving remarkable progress in the state.

Gratitude and Recognition
Mbah also thanked the elder statesmen for their generosity and foresight. He recognized the challenges faced by the people of Enugu over the years and appreciated their faith in his vision. The governor expressed gratitude to his colleagues in the administration for their resilience and dedication, which contributed to the achievements seen in Enugu.
He extended deep gratitude to the PDP for providing the platform on which they campaigned and won. The PDP supported them through a demanding campaign and joined in celebrating the victory. However, Mbah emphasized that leadership sometimes demands difficult decisions in the service of higher principles and goals.
A Collective Decision
The decision to join the APC was not made by Mbah alone but was a collective move by the political family in Enugu State, comprising members of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, all the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors, all political appointees and over 80% of party executives.
Mbah highlighted that the move was based on the need to seek affiliation where the interests of the region are represented in the form of fair partnership. He stressed that this decision was not made out of resentment or fear but with confidence in the future.
Embracing a Visionary Partnership
Mbah expressed his confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as a leader who shares his vision for Enugu. He believes that together, they can achieve bold and disruptive transformation, ensuring that Enugu’s promise is reinforced.
The governor emphasized that the progress achieved in Enugu will not slow down, and the projects begun will be completed as promised. He assured the people of Enugu that their voices will continue to be heard in Abuja, and the change will not affect their progress at home.
Looking Ahead
Mbah addressed the concerns raised by some about the impact of this decision on the lives of the people. He reaffirmed his commitment to representing the state and region with the same strength of purpose as always. He encouraged the political elite across the South East to focus on results and true leadership.
To Ndi Enugu, Mbah reassured them that this move is not a detour but a conscious step towards a more compelling future. He asked for their understanding, trust, and continued support as they begin this new chapter.
Conclusion
In closing, Mbah expressed profound gratitude to the President for his support and encouragement of their vision. He is confident that this marks the beginning of a new era of growth and progress. As he concluded, he reiterated the phrase “Tomorrow is here,” symbolizing the new beginning for Enugu State.
