A Night of Drama and Triumph at the BRIT Awards
The 46th edition of the BRIT Awards took place in Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, marking the first time the ceremony was held outside London. Hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, the event showcased a mix of dramatic moments and celebrated achievements across various music genres.
During the show, 20-year-old artist Sombr, whose real name is Shane Boose, performed his single “Back to Friends” in a striking hot pink suit. However, the performance took an unexpected turn when a man entered the stage, pushing the singer off his podium. The unidentified individual then revealed a t-shirt that read “Sombr is a homewrecker.” Security quickly removed the man from the stage.

According to reports, the incident was part of a planned stunt to promote Sombr’s latest single “Homewrecker.” Fans on social media had mixed reactions, with some calling it a clever publicity move while others found it messy. One fan wrote: “ykw give props to Sombr and his team for making it actually seem real lmao,” while another said, “Was there really any need for Sombr to add this to his staging? It was just messy.”
Olivia Dean Makes History
Olivia Dean had a standout night, winning four awards in the categories she was nominated for: Best Artist, Best Album, Best Song, and Best Pop Act. At 26, she became the first woman to claim the UK’s No 1 single and album in the same week since Adele in 2021. Her song “Man I Need” and album “The Art Of Loving,” both released in 2025, topped the charts.
In the Song of the Year category, Olivia was nominated for two songs: “Man I Need” and “Rein Me In” featuring Sam Fender, which ultimately won.
Other Notable Moments
Lily Allen, despite her success with the release of her fifth studio album West End Girl, did not win any awards. She was nominated in several categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Pop Act, but fell short against Olivia Dean.
