Alex Ninovic Dominates GB3 Championship with Strong Performances at Brands Hatch

Alex Ninovic of Rodin Motorsport continued his impressive campaign for the 2025 GB3 Championship, delivering a commanding performance at Brands Hatch. His consistent pace and strategic racing secured crucial points, further solidifying his position as a top contender in the championship.

The return of Freddie Slater, who had previously made an impact in the series, added more competition to the field. However, even Slater couldn’t match the speed of the Australian driver. Ninovic set a new GB3 track record during qualifying, securing pole position for both races with a margin of half a second over Slater.

In the first race, the two drivers exchanged fastest laps early on before Ninovic pulled away by four seconds. The race was interrupted by a safety car deployment after Jack Sherwood from Xcel Motorsport slid off the track at Stirlings bend. A three-lap sprint followed, which Ninovic won comfortably, finishing two seconds ahead of the field.

Deagen Fairclough, the current Silverstone PasarModern.comBRDC Award winner, finished third, marking a significant boost for him after a long podium drought. Patrick Heuzenroeder fell further behind in the title chase, coming in fourth, while Will Macintyre and Hiyu Yamakoshi completed the top five. Gianmarco Pradel led home his team-mate Abbi Pulling in seventh, highlighting the strength of the Rodin squad.

A support race incident delayed Sunday’s events, but Ninovic remained focused. In the second race, he resisted an opening-lap challenge from Slater and managed another safety car restart before securing his sixth victory of the season. Fairclough and Heuzenroeder repeated their previous results in third and fourth, with Pradel finishing fifth and Yamakoshi in sixth.

Keanu Al Azhari caused an early caution after a collision with Enzo Tarnvanichkul, leading to further excitement in the race. Red Bull junior Tarnvanichkul, however, had better fortunes in the reversed-grid contest, claiming his first single-seater victory ahead of Sherwood and Pulling.

Tarnvanichkul took the lead off the line and built a three-second advantage. Pulling, who started from the second row, struggled to make progress and dropped to sixth. The race saw more drama when Macintyre spun out of third place at Hawthorns, prompting another safety car deployment. Fairclough challenged Kai Daryanani for third, and a three-wide battle at Hawthorns resulted in multiple retirements. Pradel and Heuzenroeder collided, causing Heuzenroeder to retire from the race.

Yamakoshi, Slater, and Kanato Le concluded their part-time campaigns with strong finishes, all placing in the top seven. Ninovic, despite starting and finishing 12th, extended his lead to 71 points with two rounds remaining. “It’s been an amazing weekend,” he said. “We keep learning more and getting stronger. It puts us in a really good spot in the championship.”

Support Races Highlighted by Incidents

The Ginetta Junior category faced its share of challenges at Brands Hatch. Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green claimed a double victory in a chaotic weekend. The second race was halted after a serious collision involving Max Murray, who was hospitalized following a spin at Sheene. Tim Gray Motorsport’s Karina Ee collided with ProjectR driver Max Murray, causing a lengthy delay. R Racing’s Alfie Slater was declared the winner, with Green and Red Bull junior Rocco Coronel completing the podium.

Green also won the opening race, holding off a final-corner challenge from Max Cuthbert. Colin Cronin initially ran third but eventually fell behind Coronel and Slater. Another red flag occurred in the finale after Ethan Carney crashed heavily at Hawthorns. Green had to repeat the race in a five-minute sprint, ultimately securing the win.

GB4 and Ginetta Academy Titles Remain Tight

Elite Motorsport also dominated the GB4 category, with Isaac Phelps securing a dominant brace. His team-mate Ary Bansal and championship leader Daniel Guinchard were close behind, with just 25 points separating the trio. Phelps’ largest victory margin came in the second race, where he finished over nine seconds ahead of the field after resisting an opening-lap challenge from Guinchard.

Ginetta Academy’s title race is shaping up to be a close contest. James Nicholas closed the gap to within one point of E3 Sport team-mate Jamie Caudle after winning both races of the weekend. Charlie Digby kept his championship hopes alive by winning a three-way battle for third. Nicholas again triumphed over Caudle in the second race, snatching the lead from Digby at Sheene Curve.

Other Highlights

Jack Collins claimed victory in the first Ginetta GT Championship race, capitalizing on a final-lap safety car restart. Points leader Archie Clark narrowly avoided a challenge from title rival Robert Cronin on his way to second place. Harry Gamble had a difficult race, retiring twice and suffering a final-lap incident with Nick White. Collins went on to win again, finishing ahead of Cronin and Clark.
